SRX25927853: Metagenome of diesel spiked soil after 21 days
1 PACBIO_SMRT (Sequel IIe) run: 25,225 spots, 36.5M bases, 22.3Mb downloads

Design: For the creation of the PacBio library, an unamplified library was generated using the Pacific Biosciences standard template preparation protocol for creating >10 kb libraries. Genomic DNA (10 g) was sheared using Covaris g-Tubes to generate >10kb fragments (Covaris, Inc., Woburn, MA, USA). The sheared DNA fragments were then prepared according to the Pacific Biosciences SMRTbell template preparation kit guidelines (Pacific Biosciences, Menlo Park, CA, USA).

Study: Bacterial Succession During Biostimulation of Diesel Spiked Soil with Corn Steep Liquor
show Abstracthide Abstract
the main goal of the study was to determine the effect of corn steep liquor (CSL) treatment on bacterial succession and rate of degradation in an agricultural soil contaminated with diesel. The bacterial community of was monitored over a 42-day period using the metagenomic approach. The setup consisted of the experimental designated as DSE and the control designated as DSC. Sampling was done at interval of 21 days and samples labelled accordingly as DSC0, DSC21, DSC42, DSE0, DSE21 and DSE42. The study sought to understand whether or not bacterial strains present in CSL are able to compete and establish themselves in the soil or not, implying greater role for CSL beyond mere nutrient supplementation. this is important because CSL has been found to increase rate of hydrocarbon degradation. Role assignment for the bacteria might inform further processing of CSL for application to exclude steps that could remove the organisms
Sample: Control soil on Day 21
